The Great Trace Debate....is getting ridiculous.

Thu Jul 2, 2009, 3:08 PM
I'm really sorry about all the hate this girl is getting. In all honesty she really doesn't deserve it.

I haven't really read into her storyline too much just skimmed through her work and she's really talented. She deserves the credit she gets and she shouldn't let people put her down.

Just as those people are entitled to their opinion so is she. And there's a fine line between constructive criticism to help someone ameliorate themselves and just being mean. (I try to dance around that line :P I kid.)

Anyway, the quality of a character, whether it's good or bad, Mary-Sue or not, this site is meant for artwork. And unless they're helping someone become a better artist with their comments or letting them know what they thought of the artist's work it's really not their place to scream their opinion at the top of their lungs and force it on others.

And even if this was a site meant for writing like FF.net everyone is still entitled to freedom of speech (so to speak) and this girl has worked on creating a character. If those people don't like it than they don't have to read it.

To all you other aspiring authors and artists out there don't you dare let them get you down! Even if I was speaking about Shizue (Marina's character) in particular it applies to everyone.

And if you're one of those flamers I want you to think: How would you feel if it was something you created and worked for that was being bashed? And what about other amazing artists/writers like Mongrel or Outerglow? Aren't they (who are just as amazing) just as guilty of whatever Marina is being accused of?

What makes one artist any different than another?

There's a code that my slice of the world abides by, a principle my parents raised me on:

If you have nothing nice to say then don't say it. (And if you really can't help yourself; try to cut out all the bullshit.)
